Razorock XXX – A Famous Shave

I am really excited to try the Razorock XXX shave soap I received yesterday.  My face feels really solid going into this shave.  I have some minor irritation on my sensitive neck meat, but that is to be expected.  I can’t remember the last time I was actually excited to shave.

Nivea Original Post Shave Balm

Finished shave with two passes, one with the stubble growth and another across the whisker pattern, then some touching up.  Shave felt pretty good overall.  I seemed to require a lot of touching up this time.  This shave resulted in a lot fewer weepers than in previous shaves and my typically sensitive neck actually feels pretty good.

The Razorock XXX shaving soap performed well.  There is a lot of hype out there on the forums and in various YouTube videos regarding this soap and this scent.  I was expecting a lot.  Perhaps too much.

My Semogue 1250 loaded easy with the soap out of the container.  It’s a pretty soft soap, so loading should be a breeze.  I was able to whip up a solid lather really easily on my face.  Probably the fasted lather I have built to date.  I felt like the slickness and protection the Razorock XXX offered was above average and there was plenty of lather to last through the entire shave.

The Razorock XXX post-shave felt a little on the dry side.  Not bad by any means, but after the great shave that it gave, my face just seemed a little dry.  No burn, but I definitely felt like I needed some moisturizer after the shave in the form of a post shave balm.  That is why I went with the Nivea Original rather than the Sensitive as it seems to have a more moisturizing affect on my facial skin.

The scent of the Razorock XXX soap seemed rather mild to me.  After whipping up a lather, I could pick out hints of flowers and a slight sweetness mixed with just a rather typical soapy smell.  I think I was expecting more as some folks out there have raved about this scent.  To me the scent was good.  I like that it was mild and clean and dissipated rather quickly after the shave.

I guess I’m just not all that sure why people are so crazy about this stuff.  It can be difficult to get ahold of, sells out quick, and people seem to really love it.  In the end, it’s a good soap, and I will certainly be trying more from Razorock.  I think I just need to make up my own mind on scents and performance rather than listening to the masses and getting my expectation blown out of proportion.
