Beginnings Shave Experience Archive

Welcome to our Beginnings Archive.  Articles listed here are from our original content and are our very first attempts at describing and sharing our shave experiences.  Beginnings articles were originally transcribed from a pen-and-paper journal that contained notes about our journey into the wonderful world of classic wet shaving.  While these articles are not our most frequented or polished pieces, they are historical and illustrate the origins of Anthronicle.com.

Our favorite and most popular Beginnings articles are: Feather Blade Bleeders – Ouch!, Best Shave Yet from New Soap and Blade, Real Shave Soap and First Shave Brush, and who can forget First DE Shave – There Will be Blood.

Enjoy perusing our Shave Experiences archive to learn more about improving your next shave.  Feel free to leave a comment or question at the end of the article and we will get back to you in a timely manner.  Also, don’t forget to share our content on your favorite social media network.  Thanks for checking out Anthronicle, and we hope you have some great shaves!

Good Shave – Feather Blade Comeback

I was humbled yesterday after using a Feather blade for the first time.  In today's shave needs to be a good shave.  I need a comeback.  I need to keep it slow and focus on my technique.  I know the Feather blade is top quality and I've heard after one shave they can get better.  Let's see if I can get a good shave result this time.   Products: Edwin Jagger DE89 Kelvin Safety Razor Feather Hi-Stainless Platinum Coated Razor Blade (2nd shave) Pre de Provence [...]

Razorock XXX – A Famous Shave

I am really excited to try the Razorock XXX shave soap I received yesterday.  My face feels really solid going into this shave.  I have some minor irritation on my sensitive neck meat, but that is to be expected.  I can't remember the last time I was actually excited to shave.   Products: Edwin Jagger DE89 Kelvin Crystal Israeli Personna Razor Blades Razorock XXX Italian Shaving Soap Semogue 1250 Boar Brush Nivea Original Post Shave Balm   Finished shave with two passes, one with the [...]

Best Shave Yet from New Soap and Blade

Going easy on yesterday's shave really took the edge off.  This could be my best shave yet. My facial skin is feeling pretty good right about now.  My neck is still a little raw, but that is to be expected considering it is my most sensitive part what I shave.  Overall, I'm feeling good and hoping that my new Soap Commander shave soap can give me my best shave yet. Products: Edwin Jagger DE89 Kelvin Crystal "Israeli Personna" Razor Blade Soap Commander Passion Semogue 1250 [...]

Real Shave Soap and First Shave Brush

A real shave soap is used toady, and finally I get to use my Semogue 1250 boar brush. I decided to pick up some WSP Fougere Noir after watching Nick Shaves Lather Review. Hopefully they will provided me with some relief. My face is raw, dry and irritated to start. My wounds are still healing from the past couple days of shaving. Must press onward. Shave Rating System – Number Munchers

I felt like I needed to come up with some kind of way to objectively rate my shave results so that I could compare between shaves.  So, I have devised a shave rating system that might help.  I guess it is not all that necessary, but I found myself trying to rank my shaves, then trying to assign numbers, but without much thought.  I've decided to go with the simple system below and will provide a shave rank for my daily shaves in the future. [...]

Raw Face – 2nd Attempt at DE Shaving

My face is tender, still recovering from yesterday's first DE shave. A better description might be a raw face. No open wounds, but some clear nicks throughout. I nicked a mole I have on my raw face yesterday and need to try to avoid that in today's effort. I need to remember to focus on technique, razor angle and a slow pass. I have one day of growth. Hoping this turns out a better experience. Products: Edwin Jagger DE89 Kelvin Personna Lab Blue Razor Blade [...]

First DE Shave – There Will Be Blood

Pre-shave Thoughts: Here are some notes going into my first DE shave. After a bit of online research, I decided to give the classic safety razor a try. The upsides of better results, value, and experience all made it quite easy for me to make the change. Of course, the years of tradition and rich history didn't hurt either. I purchased an Edwin Jagger DE safety razor and a pack of blades from Amazon for my first DE shave. Here goes nothing... Products: Edwin Jagger [...]
